Podcast by Guillaume Müller, Hubert Curien laboratory, Data Intelligence team

The Nuit Européenne des Checheur.e.s was held simultaneously in nearly 400 European cities on November 27, 2020, for the 16th consecutive year,

The second edition in Saint-Etienne brought together researchers from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region: Stéphanois.e, Lyonnais.e and Clermont-Ferrand.e around a convivial virtual event, with the aim of introducing the general public to the world of research and inspiring young people to take up research careers.

The “La rotonde” cultural center, in partnership with Jean Monnet University and Saint-Étienne Métropole, presented an innovative feature: a digital village. The latter brings together a variety of places such as a campsite, a bistro, a flea market, etc., all of which are brimming with scientists’ secrets in digital form: videos, podcasts, photo exhibitions, games and challenges.

Le village numérique - les secrets des chercheurs

Guillaume Müller, who teaches Web development and Data Science at Télécom Saint-Etienne and also works as a researcher for the Hubert Curien laboratory in the Data Intelligence division, was able to put together a podcast in which he recounts an anecdote that led him to embark on a career in research.

For Guillaume, ” One of the roles of the researcher is to establish a dialogue with society, providing it with the keys to understanding the world of scientific research. Indeed, there are more and more topical scientific issues to address in order to inform the public in a simple and transparent way. “.
