Saint-Étienne, February 14, 2024

Télécom Saint-Étienne, a leading public engineering school within the Université Jean Monnet and affiliated to the Institut Mines Télécom, stands out in L’Etudiant magazine’s rankings.

The school ranks first among French schools in Optics and Photonics Engineering, and second in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes for 5-year engineering courses. This recognition reflects the academic excellence of its courses and its proximity to the socio-economic fabric.

Télécom Saint-Etienne stands out in particular on the following criteria:

Optics and Photonics :

Télécom Saint-Étienne is recognized as the national leader in Optics and Photonics Engineering. The school offers a 3-year photonics engineering apprenticeship program (Image, Photonics, Smart Industry), as well as a dedicated student engineering program (Engineering and Modeling of Photonic Solutions).

IT theme :

Télécom Saint-Étienne is the third-largest public engineering school in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes in the field of IT. Graduating engineers take courses that combine computer science with imaging, electronics and networks, making them particularly versatile for companies in the digital industry.

These leading positions in these two areas are also the result of the excellence of academic research in physics and computer/image science carried out at the Laboratoire Hubert Curien, the primary support laboratory for the school’s teacher-researchers.

5-year engineering curriculum :

The school ranks second among Auvergne Rhône-Alpes schools offering a 5-year engineering curriculum. This success underlines the excellence of its Classe Préparatoire Intégrée (CPI), run in collaboration with the IUT de Saint-Étienne and the Faculté des Sciences et Techniques. The CPI has just celebrated its 15th anniversary and opened a new “Mesures Physiques” course, in addition to the existing “Génie Électrique et Informatique Industrielle” course.

Proximity to businesses :

Télécom Saint-Étienne tied for 17th place(top 10%) nationally for the quality of its partnerships with companies. In the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region, the school ranks third among public schools. The school organizes numerous events throughout the year, enabling over 200 unique companies to meet students and apprentices as part of their internships, projects and training.
