WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONTEXT
Université Jean Monnet
A multi-disciplinary university, Saint-Etienne’s Université Jean Monnet offers a wide range of courses in tune with society and the region, as well as high-quality research. Organized around 5 sites (including one in Roanne), the University welcomes over 20,000 students and 1,650 staff. It comprises 5 faculties, 4 institutes including an engineering school (Télécom Saint-Etienne), 6 doctoral schools, 34 research teams and 5 federative research structures.
Télécom Saint-Étienne is a leading public school for digital engineers, affiliated with the Institut Mines-Télécom and part of the Université Jean-Monnet. It trains 730 students in the digital field: photonics, electronics, telecommunications, networks, image processing, computer science, information-communication. Students
can enter the engineering program at post-baccalaureate level via the integrated preparatory class, or at bac+2 level following a preparatory class for the grandes écoles (Mines-Télécom competitive entrance exam), or by application based on portfolio (DUT, BUT, BTS, Licence). Three engineering cycles are offered: one as a student and two through apprenticeships. Télécom Saint-Étienne has a start-up incubator, 4 research laboratories and a university research school. Within Télécom Saint-Etienne, the IMLEX Erasmus Mundus Master’s program trains experts in virtual reality, combining theory and practice. It is supported by four universities: University of Eastern Finland, Toyohashi University of Technology (Japan), Université Jean Monnet (France) and KU Leuven (Belgium). The program offers a unique training program in
light-surfaces engineering, with opportunities for internships, scientific events and mobility grants, at a site of excellence in Saint-Étienne. The program is taught entirely in English.
POSITIONING
Attached to Télécom Saint-Etienne, and under the functional responsibility of Loïc Denis (head of Program Definition and Evolution in IT) and Damien Muselet (head of the IMLEX Master program at Télécom Saint-Etienne).
MISSIONS & ACTIVITIES
3 main missions
- Preparation of practical work and multi-disciplinary projects focusing on or mobilizing Artificial Intelligence in all the school’s engineering courses (40%),
- Helping to set up and run the Graduate School of Engineering’s AI Platform (20%),
- Pedagogical support for the IMLEX Master in AI & Deep Learning, 3D Visualization (40%).
With the help of the teaching team for all these missions:
- Installing/updating Python/Pytorch/Tensorflow libraries
- Technical assistance to students during practical work and projects
- Create virtual machines on UJM’s LySe-Cloud platform
- Artificial Intelligence tools and technology watch
- Collection of pre-learned models and datasets to make them available to students
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED
- Very good IT development skills
- Knowledge of Pytorch, TensorFlow
- Very good level of French and English
- Aptitude for coaching and training
- Animation capacity
- A willingness to take on responsibility
- Autonomy and ability to work in a team
