From technician to engineer.
Skills development over the years
A flexible work-study schedule
- 15 days at school and 15 days in the workplace over the first 18 months, with a short rotation between the two, to foster a sense of belonging and integration in both settings and to acquire the essential skills, attitudes and knowledge.
- 1 month at school/1 month in a company, with the remaining 18 months allowing students to reach a milestone halfway through the course and undertake more ambitious projects once they have mastered the basics.
1st year
Acquiring the essential foundations and bringing all learners up to standard, regardless of their previous course of study (Citise, BUT2 or BUT3, BTS, CPGE, L3).
2nd year
A transitional year in which the apprentice must take on a more active role and move away from being merely an observer, shifting from the role of a ‘technician’ to that of an ‘engineer’. The work-study programme is adapted to enable the apprentice to successfully carry out increasingly complex tasks.
3rd year
Maintaining a regular balance between school and work, to develop ‘competent action’—the ability to acquire new skills whilst putting them into practice through a constant back-and-forth between understanding and doing.
